Chỉ lời khuyên răn, dạy bảo nói ra mà người nghe không tiếp thu nên hoàn toàn vô ích, như nước đổ lên lá môn đều trôi tuột đi. Thường dùng để chê sự lì lợm, trơ lì hoặc tình thế không thể tác động bằng lời nói.
